Lost Tape 17

The Crowley House Disappearance

Recovered from an abandoned house at 13th and Crowley, this camcorder holds images that should not exist. Seven women entered the house for a night that was never supposed to matter. None were seen leaving. What the tape recorded—damaged, glitched, broken by static—offers only horror and questions.

  • Tracy Nguyen Distinctive red jacket. Glitch appears around her in all group frames.
  • Monica Hale Laugh detected in audio waveform—never matched to any visible mouth movement.
  • Danielle Price Shadow appears ahead of her on the stairs; motion analysis indicates out-of-sync limbs.
  • Jessica Roman Last to be seen in tape's last undamaged sequence. Timestamp flickers and rewinds.

Tape Fragments: Recovered Stills & Anomalies

Seven women on old house porch, glitched tape still
[00:04:47 | 10/28/06]

Entry footage: Groups enters together. Behind Erica, shadow on the wall does not align with the door light source. Audio captures distant knocking from inside.

Tape frame: women in hall, face in window
[--:--:-- | 10/28/06] [TIMESTAMP ERROR]

Anomaly: Two sets of eyes visible in window reflection—none match anyone in the room. Cross-frame analysis confirms reversed left/right mirroring inconsistent with tape mechanics.

Tape still: woman in red, impossible shadow
[00:13:09 | REVERSED]

Note: Tracy’s shadow is cast toward the stairs below, despite light source above. Momentary duplication of her arms and legs in VHS trail. For 0.2s, whole frame records backward.

Bathroom mirror VHS still, warped reflection
[19:46:22 | TIMESTAMP GLITCH]

Reflection mismatch: Amanda’s reflection continues to smile after her face falls neutral. Mirror reflection flickers in and out of sync for 11 frames.

Tape still: empty haunted doorway with faces
[92:--:-- | DATA INTEGRITY FAILURE]

Frame Note: Tape records long static pause. Faint outline of what appears to be seven overlapping silhouettes visible inside door—none perfectly match any subject. Room recorded as colder than rest of tape (thermal overlay artifact).

The House Watched Too

Moments before the group arrived, the old house was already awake—motion sensors triggered, faint shapes passing behind the curtained windows. The porchlight, once severed from city power, flickered on as if welcoming. Even before the first echo of laughter climbed the crooked stairs, at least two shadows crept along the far wall, uncast by any living body.

Throughout the tape, windows recorded more "eyes" than faces present. Audio spectrograms show hidden overlapping voices whispering "stay" and "run" on reversed channels. In one reversed sequence, the house's back door opens—and closes—on its own, captured only for a single, jitter-shot frame.

The house had been watching. The archive can only watch in return.

Dirt Napp: Forensic Analysis [EXCERPT]

  • Timeline Disjunction: Video time does not progress linearly. Segments rewind, overwrite, and duplicate, with individuals present in frames after apparent "exits." Absolute entry/exit count: never greater than 7. Absolute egress count: 0.
  • Shadow Inconsistency: Shadows and reflections do not correspond with any forensic photogrammetry. At least three shadows in six separate frames have no visible subject.
  • Audio Anomalies: Multiple, layered whisper tracks detected—many do not corresponded to any subject. Vocal reversal and slowed phonemes suggest a "secondary" audio stream hidden within static.
  • Presence in Absence: Facial mapping through corrupted frames detects up to twelve discrete outlines—possible duplications, non-human error, or echo artifact.

Attempts to restore the full exit sequence have failed.
House layout in tape does not match city records; final frames loop endlessly in a blank hallway. Questions remain: Who watched through the glass? Who locked the door from inside?
